As a published author, I am often asked, "How do I begin writing?" While the writing process has no right or wrong way, here are a few suggestions:
Just write. Write every single detail that you see in your mind.
-What do you see?
-What does the character or characters look like?
-What are they doing?
-Why are they doing that?
-If more than one character is present, what at they discussing?
-What emotions are involved?
-Describe the nonverbal behavior you see.
-Describe the setting and or timeline (past, present, future).
-What is the relationship between the characters you see?
-Why is it like that?
These are just some questions to help bring a vivid picture to your writing. Capture every single detail. During this process, don't edit, fix, or perfect the writing. Write until you have purged everything from your imagination. If it looks a mess, that's okay. This is your initial draft.
Wear one hat at a time. If you're writing, write. Don't edit. Use this time to create as much of your story as possible. Choose another time to Develop. When developing, use the time to review the story, its characters, plot, and subplot. When performing minor editing, edit. Clean up grammatical errors, run on sentences, punctuation, etc.
The goal in the initial draft is to just write. Be consistent with this method and eventually, your story should be completed.
Repeat, until your manuscript is complete!
